All Basementsaver Water Powered Backup Sump Pumps are designed to prevent the possibility of backflow into your potable water supply under normal operating conditions. However, some local plumbing codes may also require a separate 'Approved' backflow prevention device. |
For these applications, we developed the Basementsaver WPA-Series & HPA-Series water powered backup sump pumps. These pumps feature an integrated 'Approved' Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker (AVB) backflow prevention device.
The Basementsaver WPA-Series and the Basementsaver HPA-Series are each comprised of 3 extremely powerful, ultra-reliable, emergency backup sump pump models:
Basementsaver WPA-Series water powered backup sump pumps feature an integrated AVB and operate using NORMAL Pressure city water supplies (40-100psi)
Basementsaver HPA-Series water powered backup sump pumps feature an integrated AVB and operate using VERY HIGH Pressure water supplies (75-150psi).
Find Out More About 'Approved' AVB Backflow Prevention Devices.
To determine whether 'Approved' backflow prevention is required in your specific area contact your local plumbing inspector. IF YOU DO NOT NEED AN 'APPROVED' BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICE CHOOSE A WP OR HP-SERIES PUMP!
Basementsaver WPA and HPA Water Powered Backup Sump Pumps w AVB are usually installed on a joist in Your basement ceiling. Installation is very similar to that of standard WP-Series and HP-Series pumps, except there are some important restrictions for all pump units with an integrated AVB (see notes below the diagram):
NOTE: A dedicated discharge line is required for WPA-Series & HPA-Series Pumps
NOTE: The discharge line must slope downwards to drain away from the pump ejector
Failure to comply with these notes may cause nuisance leakage in Your basement!
You have 3 water powered emergency backup pump capacities to choose from: WPA1 & HPA1 (residential), WPA2 & HPA2 (large residential), and WPA3 & HPA3 (commercial).

NOTE: WPA-Series models will not pump at al at pressures below 30psi - If your water pressure is less than 40psi choose a battery backup pump!
NOTE: WPA-Series pumps should NOT be used above 100psi or they will be damaged! - If YOUR water pressure continuously exceeds 100psi get an HPA-Series pump.
Basementsaver HPA-Series water powered backup pumps are designed for operation in some commercial / industrial water systems with VERY HIGH water pressure (75-150psi).
NOTE: HPA-Series pumps will not work at all below 70 psi.
