1885-1886 - Albert Butz patents the 'furnace regulator and alarm' and forms the Thermo-Electric Regulator Co. in Minneapolis MN.
1893 - Consolidated Temperature Controlling Co. acquires Butz' patents and renames itself Electric Heat Regulator Company.
1904-1906 - Mark Honeywell develops the 'Honeywell Hot Water Heat Generator'and forms the Honeywell Heating Specialty Company, in Wabash IN.
1912 - Electric Heat Regulator Co. renames itself Minneapolis Heat Regulator Co.
1916 - Minneapolis Heat Regulator Co. patents the first electric motor, which is UL approved.
1927 - Honeywell Heating Specialty Co. and Minneapolis Heat Regulator Co. merge, forming Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co. and then acquire several companies including 'Brown Instrument Co.' (inventor of the pyrometer and a leader in the field of industrial controls and indicators).
1934 - Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co. acquires 'Time-O-Stat Controls Corp.' and expands globally.
1956 - Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co.introduces the T-86 Round Thermostat.
1954 - Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co. acquires Doelcam Corp. (a maker of gyroscopes).
1955 - Datamatic Corporation (a joint venture with Raytheon) marks Honeywell's entry into computers.
1957 - Honeywell buys a fire detection and alarm firm and Honeywell Security stickers proliferate.
1960 - Honeywell buys out Datamatic, which is renamed Electronic Data Processing (EDP).
1963 - Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co. is officially renamed Honeywell.
1970 - Honeywell Information Systems forms in a venture with General Electric.
1986 - The Personal Computer emerges, and Honeywell Bull is formed in a joint venture with NEC (Japan), and Compagnie des Machines Bull (France).
1986 - Honeywell acquires Sperry Aerospace, becoming the world's leading avionics integrator.
1991 - Honeywell exits the computer business.
1999 - Honeywell is acquired by Allied Signal, but retains the Honeywell name.
