Danfoss Group Company Evolution
1933 - Mads Clausen establishes the company, Dansk Køleautomatik og Apparat-Fabrik. The first ARV and TRV valves were soon supplemented with automatic AV and AVS valves.
1935 to 1945 - Product line includes: automatic spring valves, ball float valves, thermostats, pressure-controlled valves, diaphragm valves, suction valves, room thermostats, constant-pressure valves and drying filters. Dealers set up in Belgium, Norway, Finland, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, England.
1946 to 1956 - Company renamed Danfoss and Danfoss Automatic Control Systems for oil burners launched. Danfoss Thermostatic Radiator Valve developed and new Danfoss Factory completed. Danfoss patents flame monitoring using photoelectric cells.
1962 to 1967 - Danfoss Research Department opened, develops static frequency converter for controlling the speed of electric motors.
1975 to 1980 - New Danfoss Flowmeters product range is launched. Danfoss opens Northern Europe's most modern Heat-Treatment Department. Danfoss Natural Gas Automatic Control Systems introduced. Danfoss Oil Pre-Heaters, new Danfoss Radiator Thermostats, and Danfoss Twin Compressors for Heat Pumps all introduced.
1985 to 1995 - Danfoss is presented with the Quality Award and the Danfoss Factory receives ISO 9001 certification. Danfoss commits to complete voluntary environmental approval and the first environmental statement is presented with the 1994 Annual Report. The Danfoss Group's "Nessie®" water hydraulics system generates great interest, and the 5th generation of Danfoss Expansion Valves is developed.
1998 - Danfoss Drives A/S establishes Danfoss Silicon Power GmbH in Germany to develop and produce electronic power modules. Danfoss acquires JJ Sampson & Son in Ireland and establishes sales offices in Estonia and Lithuania. The Danfoss Mobile Hydraulics Division became an independent limited company, Danfoss Fluid Power A/S.
1999 - In Danfoss' largest acquisition to date, Bauer Antriebstechnik GmbH (Germany), is brought into the Danfoss Group. Danfoss Fluid Power A/S and Sauer Inc. make plans to merge.
2000 - Sauer-Danfoss A/S is established. Danfoss acquires Woodley Electronics Group (Great Britain) and Energy Controls International (ECI -headquartered in Baltimore, USA). These acquisitions strengthen Danfoss' worldwide leadership in electronic solutions for control and monitoring of supermarket refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
2001 The Danfoss Group acquires a number of companies: IWT Power Electronics (Germany), JiP Kugleventiler (Denmark), a Compressor factory (Slovakia), and finally Aircool b.v. (Holland).
2002 - The Danfoss Group acquires UNITEK (South Korea), PentaCom (Denmark), and Danfoss Marine Systems (South Korea) is taken from 50% to 100% Danfoss ownership. Danfoss now has 3 Operating Divisions: Danfoss Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Danfoss Heating, and Danfoss Motion Controls. Danfoss' product line includes industrial refrigeration, air conditioning products, variable frequency drives, and industrial automation components.
Today - The Danfoss Group continues to lead in development and production of mechanical and electronic products and controls. Danfoss products help to heat and cool homes and offices, refrigerate food and control production lines. Danfoss aims to contribute to the conveniences of modern life, as well as to a safer and cleaner environment, and the Danfoss Group 'Vision' is to be a global market leader within its' core businesses: Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Heating & Water, and Motion Controls.
