Not All Battery Powered Backup Sump Pumps Are Equal!
Most backup systems require maintenance, and most fail at some point - primarily due to lack of maintenance. That is why I advise you to install a high quality maintenance-free Water Powered Backup Pump if you can. If you can't do that, your next best option is right here on this page - a high quality low-maintenance Battery Powered Backup Sump Pump!

Don't Be Tempted by those cheap pumps at your local hardware store. They are cheap for a reason, and I've been called into more wet and musty basements than I care to recall to install the right solution once they've failed. Buy a decent quality backup pump now, install it properly, and follow the simple maintenance instructions and your basement should always remain dry.

I've made things as easy as I can for you to do the job properly for yourself. All of the pumps on this page come with everything you need. Just buy your battery locally (shipping is very expensive), and some PVC cleaner and PVC cement, and you should have no problem with your installation.

    Very Important Advice
For ease of installation, most battery backup sump pumps share the same discharge pipe as your main ac-powered sump pump. I've purposely included a long discharge hose with each BP pump, so that you can avoid the following common problem:

Most backup pump kits force you to tee-in the discharge from the backup pump so close to the exit of your main sump pump that it leaves little room for the check valve to fit below it. The check valve must then be installed much too close to your main pump, and will eventually fail due to the continuous exposure to high water pressure and turbulent flow. In an emergency situation the backup pump switches on as it should, but it cannot protect you as it recycles the water down through the broken check valve and failed main pump - back into your sump!

    The Simple Solution:
Use my extra long flexible discharge hose to tee into the discharge pipe a good 3-4 feet above your main sump pump. This leaves plenty of room to install your check valve in a safe place where the water flow is cleaner and less damaging.

    +Aquamedic Top Tip

    Extend Your Backup Time
The Basementsaver BCC Extra Battery Box & Cables allows you to add an extra battery and extend the pumping time of your emergency backup system. One BCC Kit doubles the pumping time of BP1 and BP2 units, and increases the pumping time of BP3 units by 50%.
